My name is Zachary Tan, and I am a graduate teacher currently based in Melbourne, Australia. I specialise in teaching Italian at the beginner and lower-intermediate levels, and English as an Additional Language.

I was born in Singapore, but I have been fortunate enough to travel and live around the world. I have also lived in London and Hong Kong, and have visited Malaysia, the United States, Thailand, France, Italy, Spain, Scotland, Wales, China, and Japan. I am a native speaker of English, and can also communicate in the following languages to various degrees of competency: Italian, French, Mandarin Chinese, and Japanese.

As an emerging multilingual, I can appreciate the need for a more communicative approach towards language education. I hope to use my personal experiences as a language learner to blend that approach with my grammar-based strengths in a manner that will inspire my students to appreciate the cultural and cerebral benefits of acquiring at least one additional language.

In addition to language education, my other main passions revolve around punk rock music and budget-level computing. I play the bass guitar, and have spent the second half of 2017 learning how to write songs. My influences include punk rock, anime songs, the Beatles, a bit of heavy metal, and the YouTuber "Shady Cicada". I go by the stage name "[PSEUDONYM:]FUMITAKE LEE".
